PURPOSE: An ice breaking device and a ship having the same are provided to break and crush drift ice approaching a hull without the propulsion of the ship.;CONSTITUTION: An ice breaking device (100) comprises a cylindrical floating body (110), a drive unit (120), and connection members (130). The floating body floats on the water. The drive unit is connected to the rotary shaft of the floating body and rotates the floating body. The connection members are detachably coupled to a ship and support the floating body to the ship to rotate the floating body.
