PURPOSE: A method for recognizing a brick path using texture feature and form patterns of an image is provided to enable a visually handicapped person to use various routes safely through the information of not only braille blocks but also the whole brick path area, by detecting the braille block and the whole brick path and then delivering the detected information to the visually handicapped person.;CONSTITUTION: Form patterns whose frequency is reference frequency or greater is detected, by analyzing form patterns shown in the road region of an input image. If the detected form patterns are identical, the corresponding regions are judged as a brick path (S010). Texture feature information about the region judged as the brick path and the region which may not be judged as the brick path are extracted respectively (S020). Gaussian distribution for the texture feature information of the brick path is calculated (S030).
