1. A mechanism for absorbing the kinetic energy of a frontal impact of a vehicle on a vehicle restraint system, such as a shock absorber or end guard device, for use along the edges and in the center of highways, characterized in that the mechanism comprises a rigid body in the form of a shock element or ram (1) and a deformable longitudinal metal profile (2) located in the holding system, while the cross-section of the ram (1), partially or completely, overlaps the cross-section of the deformations profile (2), while the ram (1) is attached, directly or indirectly, to the element (3) of the structure of the retention system, which is capable of moving in the longitudinal direction along it due to the impact of the vehicle (5) on the retention system, while deformable the profile (2), directly or indirectly, is fixed on the ground surface (4) so that in the case of a frontal impact of the vehicle (5) against the structural member (3), the ram (1) is moved in a direction parallel to the axis (20) of the deformable profile ( 2) which remains motionless, causing plastic deformations in one, several or in all parts of the specified profile, which extend along the deformable profile (2), within the limits in which the ram (1) is moved in the longitudinal direction along the specified deformable profile (2) .2.
