The device has a transport line (2) ending into a head piece (3) above a shaft (1), where transport air flow (11) is deflected to the shaft. The shaft has an air-permeable wall (4) for retaining fiber flakes. A diverting channel (5) for removing the air flow is connected to the wall, where the head piece is provided with a lockable diverting opening (6) for separating transport air from the air flow. The opening connected with the channel is provided with a filter and closed by a slider. A pressure or flow sensor is arranged in the shaft for controlling opening angle of the opening. An independent claim is also included for a method for separating fiber flakes from transport air flow.
