The starter (1) has a starter pinion (2), which is displaceably supported corresponding to a drive shaft (5) of the starter. The drive shaft is axially adjustable between a non-operational position and an advanced engagement position, in which the starter pinion stands in engagement with a crown gear (3) of the internal combustion engine (4). A guide pin is inserted into a recess in a force-fitting manner, in which the guide pin receives the component. The guide pin comprises a force-fitting section outside the recess, which has an undercut relative to the longitudinal axis of the guide pin.
