Lane change assistance system for motor vehicle, particularly ego vehicle for lane changing from lane to target lane, comprises environment detection unit for detecting surroundings of ego vehicle with respect to nearby vehicles
The lane change assistance system comprises an environment detection unit for detecting the surroundings of an ego vehicle (21) with respect to nearby vehicles (24,25a,25b,25c). A gap detection unit is arranged to determine merging gaps (26a,26B) on a target lane (23) depending on the nearby vehicles and the respective condition of ego vehicle. A longitudinal action space is determined on the basis of dynamic properties of the ego vehicle. An output unit outputs the trajectory reviews of target trajectories to the driver or to a control unit of the ego vehicle.
