Filter material (1) comprises a sintered thermoplastic polymer in the form of a solid and self-supporting filter material containing calcium silicate hydrate. An independent claim is also included for filtering gases comprising sintering calcium silicate hydrate and a thermoplastic polymer to form a solid, self-supporting filter material and introducing the filter material into the gas stream.
