The light-emitting device has a light emitting semiconductor chip (1) that emits monochromatic visible light (11) in a first wavelength region with respect to light decoupling surface (10). An optical element (2) is formed as a coating or as a plate on light output surface. The transparent matrix material (20) with silicone having refractive index of greater than or equal to 1.45 and filler (21) are formed in first wavelength region. The filler is transparent in the first wavelength region. The visible light is absorbed, reflected and/or scattered in second wavelength region. An independent claim is included for a method for manufacturing semiconductor light-emitting device.
