The method involves detecting (1) a crossing of a traffic lane boundary by a sensor system in a vehicle. The optical axis of the beam is directed (2) as a warning function to the border lane boundary, when the lane boundary is exceeded. The beam for warning function is produced (3,3') by a light module that is nearest to border lane boundary. The lightness of headlight distribution is stopped on basis of pulse width modulation.
