The hydrothermal propulsion system has a jet engine (1) with a gas outlet for the unburned fuel, and a duct is provided for supplying water into the region of the gas outlet. The water is drawn through the jet of burned fuel. An expanding nozzle (4) is provided behind the region of the water supply. Independent claims are also included for the following: (1) a method for driving a water vehicle; and (2) a water vehicle with a water suction port on the lower side facing water.
