The method involves utilizing a floating transfer platform (20) that is assigned to an off-shore building, through an entrance platform of the off-shore building. Height of the transfer platform is adjusted relative to a water line (13) and/or a transition height of a transfer ship (15). The transfer platform is partially followed to movements of the ship during transition of people and/or material from the transfer ship to the transfer platform such that the movements of the transfer platform relative to the entrance platform of the off-shore building is limited or prevented. The transfer platform is formed as a multi-hull float according to a small water plane area twin hull (SWATH) principle. An independent claim is also included for an off-shore building.
