The arrangement has two fuel cell control devices (14, 16) attached to two standard fuel cell systems, respectively. The control devices are coupled with a vehicle control apparatus (10) i.e. commercial vehicle control apparatus, through two fuel cell controller area network (CAN)buses (18, 20) and designed as a master and a slave, respectively. The control devices comprise master modules, where a software switch activates one of the modules and deactivates the other module. The apparatus is coupled with the cell systems through the fuel cell buses. An independent claim is also included for a method for operating a fuel cell arrangement of a vehicle.
