The device (2) has a light source covered with a sign or a motive. A wireless connection (a) is provided with a wireless remote controller (9), where the device is integrated on or in an upwardly radiating surface of a vehicle (1) and represents a vertically upward lighting light column or light cone. The wireless connection to a control unit is established in the vehicle. The wireless remote controller and the control unit control the device. The light column or the light cone is pivotably or rotatably moved to produce a permanent light or a pulsating lighting pattern. The light source is an incandescent lamp, a halogen lamp, a gas discharge lamp or an LED.
