The steering device (1) has a steering wheel (2) for adjusting a driving direction of a motor vehicle, where a massaging device (3) is provided at the steering wheel for massage effect for a hand surface of a driver of the vehicle. The massaging device has an air cushion (4,5) filled with air and a pressurizing unit (7), by which an air pressure is adjusted in the air cushion. The pressurizing unit stands in fluid connection with the air cushion. The air cushion is integrated in the steering wheel, particularly in a steering wheel rim. An independent claim is included for a method for activating a massaging device for generating a massage effect for a hand surface of a driver.
