PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a terahertz wave generation element or the like in which utilization efficiency of generated terahertz wave is enhanced.;SOLUTION: A terahertz wave generation element has a following feature in a plane perpendicular to a light propagation direction of an optical waveguide 3. When a curvature radius of a terahertz wave emission surface 11 of a coupling member 4 at a point A where a line extending from the optical waveguide 3 in a normal direction of a face of a substrate 1 intersects the terahertz wave emission surface 11 of the coupling member 4 is denoted by r1, and a curvature radius of a wavefront 6 of a terahertz wave 5 at the same point A is denoted by r2, a relation of 0r1r2 is satisfied, where, in a case the wavefront is convex in the propagation direction of the terahertz wave, the curvature radius is defined to be a positive value.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2014,JPO&INPIT
