PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a system and method for covering a blade mounting region of turbine blades.SOLUTION: A system 10 includes a turbine 18 having a turbine rotor 38, a plurality of blades 48, and a segmented cover assembly 40. The turbine rotor includes a blade mounting region 58 having a plurality blade mounts and first and second grooves 64, 66 extending circumferentially along the blade mounting region. The plurality of blades are disposed in the blade mounts 50. A segmented cover assembly includes a plurality of cover segments 74 configured to mount in the first and second grooves extending in a circumferential direction. A cover body 54 includes first and second lips extending along first and second circumferential portions of the cover body. The first lip is configured to mount in the circumferential direction along the first groove, and the second lip is configured to mount in the circumferential direction along the second groove.
