PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To generate a sufficiently large recording magnetic field from a main pole while shortening the length of a return magnetic path part arranged on a front side in an advancing direction of a recording medium with respect to the main pole.;SOLUTION: A magnetic head includes first and second coils 11, 12, a main pole 15, a recording shield 16, a return magnetic path part 40, and a core part 71. The return magnetic path part 40 has a yoke part 41 connected to the recording shield 16, and a connection part 42 arranged at a position away from a medium opposite face 80 to connect the yoke part 41 and the main pole 15. The first coil 11 is arranged at a front side in an advancing direction of a recording medium with respect to the main pole 15 to be wound around the connection part 42. The core part 71 is arranged at a position farther from the medium opposite face 80 with respect to the connection part 42 to be connected to the main pole 15.
