METHOD AND DEVICE FOR FORMING OPEN BOTTOMS ON AND REGIONS OF TUBULAR BAG BODIES

The method involves opening an end region of a tubular bag body (10) during transportation of the body in a flat manner, where the body is formed from fabric of stretched plastic tapes or plastic sheet. A widening tool is introduced into the end region and moved in transport direction (T) of the body at speed that is increased relative to transport speed (V) of the body until the tool runs against an inner side of the body. The tool is moved out of a front corner flap (10j) by relatively slowing down the movement of the tool with respect to the transport speed, where the flap is pressed. An independent claim is also included for a device for forming an open base at an open end of a tubular bag body.
