Disclosed are a composite of cuprous oxide surface-coated with copper oxide and the preparation method therefor, the preparation comprising the steps of: dispersing a cuprous oxide powder into deionized water containing a dispersant to prepare a suspension; adding a copper salt solution and a sodium hydroxide solution into the suspension to perform a coating reaction at a specified temperature and a specified pH value, during the coating reaction, the pH value being kept constant to form a resultant of the reaction, the resultant of the reaction being a composite of cuprous oxide surface-coated with copper oxide; cooling to room temperature after the coating reaction; filtering, washing, and drying the resultant of the reaction. The composite is prepared by the preparation method. A uniform copper oxide coating layer can be obtained. The thickness of the coating layer can be controlled.
