A system for and a method of use in brazing, cladding, building up, filling, overlaying, welding, and joining applications is provided. The system (100) includes a first laser beam system (120, 130) which directs a first laser beam (110) at a surface of at least one workpiece (115) to create a molten puddle (145) on the surface and a wire feeder (150) which advances a consumable (140) to the molten puddle (145) so that the consumable (140) contacts the molten puddle (145). The system (100) also includes a power supply (160, 170)which outputs a heating signal and the heating signal is directed to the consumable (140) to heat the consumable (140) prior to the consumable (140)entering the puddle (145). The system (100) further includes a second laser beam system (220, 230)which directs a second laser beam (210) at the consumable (145) prior to the consumable (140) entering the puddle (145) and a controller (195) which controls an output of each of the power supply (13060, 170) and the second laser beam system (220, 230).
