The present invention involves a thermal energy meter for determining a thermal energy exchanged by a carrier liquid with an antifreeze substance. The thermal energy meter comprises an evaluation unit, which is configured to determine the exchanged thermal energy in dependency on a plurality of properties of the carrier liquid. Thereby the thermal energy meter (10) comprises a first connector (12), which is connectable to a material property sensor and which is connected to the evaluation unit (16) for transmitting an electrical input signal to the evaluation unit (16) and the evaluation unit (16) is configured to determine the concentration (C) of the antifreeze substance in the carrier liquid in dependency on the received electrical input signal and to use this concentration (C) as one of the properties (p, V, Tr, Ts, C) of the carrier liquid. This way, a precise metering of the exchanged thermal energy as well as a flexible adjustment to changing operational conditions is achieved.
