Peptides comprising an amino acid sequence of a fragment of mammalian Toll-like receptor-4 (TLR-4), analogs and derivatives thereof, and pharmaceutical compositions comprising same are provided. Methods for modulating a TLR-4 mediated immune response, particularly stimulating TLR-4 mediated immune response, thereby treating infectious diseases and cancer are also provided.
