The present invention relates to a sensor network-based safety management system and a portable terminal for safety management, wherein the system can transmit the operating status information of various industrial facilities, which is collected through a sensor network, to a portable terminal carried by an operator. For this, the present invention desirably includes the following parts: a sensor network composed of multiple sensor nodes which are installed at industrial facilities, and obtain and transmit the operating status information of the industrial facilities where the sensor nodes are installed; a server collecting the operating status information, which is transmitted by the sensor nodes, through the sensor network; and a portable terminal which receives the operating status information of the industrial facilities from the server and displays the operating status information.
