The present invention relates to a drive guide system to be economical by using steering data and a method thereof capable of improving fuel efficiency by using the steering data such as the size or variation of steering angle and detecting a correct driving state of a driver. The drive guide system comprises: a steering data collecting unit collecting the steering data; a data storage unit storing standard fuel efficiency data according to the steering data; a data processing unit processing the steering data collected in the steering data collecting unit, comparing with the standard fuel efficiency data stored in the data storage unit, and detecting a driving state of a current vehicle; and an output unit outputting the driving state detected in the data processing unit on a screen or in voice.
