A washing machine and a liquid detergent detector for the same are provided to improve external appearance and reduce installation space by installing a detergent container inside a washing machine body or at the lower part of the washing machine body. A residual liquid detergent detector of a washing machine comprises a body(42), an electrode supporting unit(46), a float(47), first and second electrodes(51,52), and a conductive cell(49). The electrode supporting unit is installed on the body. The float is coupled to the body and floats up to the electrode supporting unit. The first and second electrodes are set apart from each other on the electrode supporting unit. The conductive cell electrically connects the two electrodes by contacting to the two electrodes when the float ascends, and is connected to the float to be separated from the two electrodes when the float descends.
