The present invention relates to a route guide server operating method for dividing and providing route data. More specifically, when route data, which is generated in response to a request from a terminal by a route guide server for providing route data to a communication type navigation, is large in size, the route data is divided and transmitted, thereby transmitting the route data more rapidly and preventing a delay of a route guide. The route guide server operating method for dividing and providing route data according to the present invention comprises: a first step of receiving a departure point and a destination transmitted from a terminal and generating route data by using the departure point and the destination; a second step of performing a division-determination by using the route data and generating divided data by dividing the route data according to one between a travel distance value and a travel time value when the division of the route data is needed; and a third step of transmitting the divided route data to the terminal.
