The present invention relates to font processing technology for maintaining an electronic document layout and, more particularly, to font processing technology that maintains the original fonts used in source electronic documents (such as Word files and presentation files) to the greatest extent possible when the documents are opened in a user terminal (such as a smartphone, a smart pad, or a digital set-top box), even if the original fonts are not installed in an application program of the user terminal. According to the present invention, when an electronic document is opened in a user terminal, the source document layout is maximally maintained so that the intentions of the document creator are accurately represented and convenience can be accordingly provided in that the degree of recognition and readability of said documents can be improved. Also, according to the present invention, not only can various costs (costs for font layout and high-capacity flash memory) that were required in the prior art for integrating many different kinds of font data be reduced, but font data does not need to be loaded, by means of which the effect of improving response when opening an electronic document can be expected.
