FIELD: tobacco industry.;SUBSTANCE: invention relates to determination of water-soluble carbohydrates content in tobacco raw stock and a bag of smoking products which method includes tobacco pulverisation, sampling, extraction of water-soluble substances with boiling distilled water, separation of interfering components through sedimentation, water-soluble carbohydrates hydrolysis, excessive acid neutralisation with alkali, copper oxide deoxidisation to protoxide with the resultant reducing tobacco substances in an alkali medium with heating, calculation of the amount of water-soluble carbohydrates relying on a calibration graph or the corresponding regression equation; for the sample one takes a 200 mg batch with the duration of hydrolysis and copper deoxidisation reaction increased up to 30 minutes; the quantity of copper protoxide produced is determined through reaction with phosphomolybdic acid in an acid medium with a deoxidised blue form of phosphomolybdic acid produced the optic density whereof is determined at the wavelength equal to 670 nm.;EFFECT: increased safety and accuracy of determination of water-soluble carbohydrates in tobacco raw stock.
