The method (21) involves forming a ceramic body (22) by sintering, and etching a recess (23) in a face of the ceramic body by laser. A decorative imprint is formed by the recess. A surface of a bottom of the recess is modified (24) to increase a contact surface of the recess. The recess is filled (26) with a ceramic composite to form a decorative part. The ceramic composite is subjected (27) to smoothing process to leave a hollow part of the recess. The ceramic body is made of carbide, oxide or nitride materials such as titanium, silicon, aluminum or zirconium. An independent claim is also included for a timepiece.
