Plastic trumpet-shaped capsules can have a lower overall height than the widely used aluminum capsules for creating an espresso in order to prevent the hot water injection needles from penetrating and sticking into the portion pack of plastic. As a result, a larger quantity of heated water is introduced at elevated pressure outside the frustoconical capsule with its conical side wall (2) and the peripheral flange (5) projecting therefrom. This requires higher requirements with regard to the seal of the frustoconical capsule opposite the brewing chamber in which the capsule is introduced. It is therefore proposed to provide a seal (8, 8 ') on the flange (5) on the head-side surface (9) as well as on the opposite membrane-side surface (7).
