Method and apparatus for facilitating throughput improvements in interconnect fabrics using point-to-point links using dynamically selectable routing. Initiators and goals are operationally linked to the first and second fabrics. The first and second fabrics include a plurality of internal point-to-point links and are communicatively coupled to one another via a plurality of fabric-to-fabric links that include first and second links from the first fabric to the second fabric. In operation, traffic on the first fabric-to-fabric link is detected to determine if it is busy, and based on the determination, data transfers from an initiator coupled to the first fabric are targeted for a destination are provided, which is coupled to the second fabric, routed selectively via either the first or the second fabric-to-fabric link.
