Producing resin-based foams by foaming and curing an aqueous or alcoholic solution or dispersion comprising a blowing agent and/or a chemical compound, which is reacted or decomposed to form a gas, comprises supplying the solution or dispersion in a microwave heater (16) with a pre-determined amount of energy by microwave irradiation, applying the solution or dispersion onto a continuously running conveyor belt (14) in a first chamber (12) in a row-wise manner, and moving the solution or dispersion to the conveyor belt under irradiation with microwaves through a second chamber (34). Producing resin-based foams by foaming and curing an aqueous or alcoholic solution or dispersion comprising a blowing agent and/or a chemical compound, which is reacted or decomposed to form a gas, comprises supplying the solution or dispersion in a microwave heater (16) with a pre-determined amount of energy by microwave irradiation, applying the solution or dispersion onto a continuously running conveyor belt (14) in a first chamber (12) in a row-wise manner, and moving the solution or dispersion on the conveyor belt under at least intermittent irradiation with microwaves through a second chamber (34). An independent claim is also included for a device for carrying out the above mentioned method, comprising the first chamber, the continuous running conveyor belt, which is arranged in the chamber, at least one microwave generator (36) for irradiating at least part of the interior of first chamber with microwaves, and a microwave heater, which is connected upstream to the chamber.
