The method involves repeatedly detecting a steering angle of the motor vehicle, where each steering angle is assigned to a travel curve parameter. The rotational speed for the travel curve parameters is determined by sensor units (4,5), which are assigned to a wheel having a profiled tire. A predetermined number of rotational speeds are stored as function of the travel curve parameters. The tire profile values (6) opposing tires are calculated depending on the travel curve parameters and the rotational speeds. The profile values are outputted. Independent claims are included for the following: (1) a motor vehicle with a control unit, (2) a computer program for executing the tire tread value determining method; and (3) a computer program product comprising program code unit stored in a computer readable data carrier.
