The plug has plate portions (12, 22) integrally formed for respective clamping plates (15, 25) arranged at housing plates (10, 20) that are mutually aligned with each other. The plate portions extend along axial direction beyond an adjacent straight housing side wall portion (33). The clamping plates form U-shaped bracket (40) along with the side wall portion. The clamping plates and the side wall portion are arranged such that the clamping plates rest on sides of a clamping seat of a plate-shaped electrical device according to insertion of a contact piece (53) into a connector socket. An independent claim is also included for an electric connector.
