The device has primary and secondary sensor fiber portions (304) that are attached at a transducer structure such that alteration of the elongation (308) of primary and secondary sensor fiber portions are produced simultaneously based on the to-be-measured force. An optical evaluation unit is set for evaluating the change of Bragg wavelength for fiber Bragg lattice based on the to-be-measured force. A determining unit is set for determining the to-be-measured force based on the evaluated Bragg wavelength. An independent claim is included for a method for measuring force.
