The device (1) has a stator (2) driven by a crankshaft. A rotor (3) is adjustable by hydraulic fluid pressure relative to the stator and connected with the camshaft. First and second pressure chambers (6, 7) are arranged between the stator and the rotor, and receive hydraulic fluid. The pressure chambers are divided by a rotor-fixed leaf (5). One of the first pressure chambers and second pressure chambers is provided with a hydraulic fluid distribution system (9) that is interrupted through a speed-dependent actuable control valve (8).
