The method involves determining (B1) the primary energy deposited in the examination area by the particles using the dosage distribution determined in the irradiation plan and the slowing-down power of the particles. The secondary energy deposited by the particles in the examination areas is determined (B2) using the irradiation parameters determined in the irradiation plan. The primary energy is compared (V1) with the secondary energy. Independent claims are included for the following: (1) a computer program product with a computer program for plausibility checking of an irradiation plan for irradiation of an examination area using particles; and (2) a device for plausibility checking of an irradiation plan for irradiation of an examination area using particles.
