The method involves determining the change in the traveling direction of a vehicle based on the steering angle of the vehicle. The information about an intended change is received in the traveling direction of the vehicle. A determination is made that the vehicle is counter to the intended direction of the lane to move based on the determined change in the travel direction and the intended change in the traveling direction. Independent claims are included for the following: (1) a device for detecting that vehicle is counter to intended direction of vehicle assigned to lane; and (2) a computer program for detecting that vehicle is counter to intended direction of vehicle assigned to lane.
