The method involves determining a representation parameter depending on a current photometric parameter of an environment of a vehicle (1). The photometric parameter is determined depending on a determined position of the vehicle, determined precipitation at the position, determined ambient temperature at the position, current time information and/or a value of an external data source. The position is determined using a navigation system (11) of the vehicle, and the precipitation is determined using a precipitation sensor (13) at the vehicle.
