Camera position and orientation determining method for use in e.g. production area, involves projecting data model of virtual information with preset camera parameters and finding current parameters using external values of cost-function
The method involves recording a two-dimensional image containing an object with a camera and generating a current image record. Image characteristics are traced between an available image record and the current record. A data model of virtual information is projected with preset camera parameters in an image plane to interfere a projection of the model with the image of the object in the plane. Current camera parameters are determined by determining external values of cost-function, which contains image data as a parameter of the current record and data of projected data model. An independent claim is also included for a system for determining the position and orientation of a camera relative to a real object.
