The method involves measuring power dissipation (Pv) of a power semiconductor. Relationship between loss of power and temperature-dependent impedance of the power semiconductor is determined. Recorded warming curve of the temperature-dependent impedance is determined based on operation of the power semiconductor. The warming curve of the power semiconductor is received. Falling voltage and measuring current of the heated power semiconductor are determined. The power semiconductor with load current is heated to maintain constant temperature of the power semiconductor. Independent claims are also included for the following: (1) a method for controlling a motor car (2) a computing unit (3) a computer program comprising a set of instructions for determining junction temperature of a semiconductor (4) a machine-readable memory medium comprising a set of instructions for determining junction temperature of a semiconductor.
