The automatic method involves reading out (2) vendor-specific product designation from existing database or from other data sources. The vendor-specific product designation is fragmented (3) by the detection of delimiters into individual components. The individual components are analyzed by comparing with positive lists to determine whether it is general product term. The vendor-specific product designation searches for terms from positive lists. The character string from the product designation, which matches with the terms of the positive lists, is stored. An evaluation module evaluates and determines the result of the comparison with positive lists.
