The device has a support (4) extending in a plane along first direction (x) and second direction for arranging batteries (1) on the support along the first direction. Each pair of force sensors (5) is located along the first direction for measuring pressing force on the batteries. A stamper (2) is provided for applying pressure to the batteries and extended along the first direction and for pressing the batteries on the support along third direction (z) vertical to the first and second directions. An independent claim is also included for a method for aligning batteries of a battery module.
