The method involves suggesting an obstacle in a vehicle (300) surrounding using measuring signals, when the vehicle is stationary, then the drive train is not closed by a controllable clutch. The drive train is not closed by the controllable clutch, if the request of a driver (401) exists to close the clutch. The acoustic, optical and haptic warning is outputted, if the controllable clutch is not closed. The optical warning by a bright warning lamp is displayed on a display of the vehicle. The haptic warning is realized by the vibration of pedals, particularly clutch pedals. Independent claims are included for the following (1) a computer program for enabling a data processing device to perform a method for operating a powertrain; and (2) a computer readable storage medium for storing a computer program for operating a powertrain.
