The method involves mounting the azimuthal indicia (16) without considering the plate-individual properties on the azimuthal position of each plate (12) of a plate-manufacturing lot relative to the associated plate manufacturing device. The plate of the plate-manufacturing lot is used for forming a plate set. The plate is measured with respect to its global thickness and is classified into corresponding thickness classes.
