A predictive maneuverability enhancement system that provides improved timely provision of automotive performance selection of chassis and steering modes for potential predicted safety collisions is disclosed. The primary input signals of the disclosed invention include determining proximity to a vehicle ahead, density of surrounding traffic, a collision warning, and the predictive maneuverability improvement decision subsystem for vehicle mode selection. The system of the disclosed invention provides a customized vehicle dynamic chassis and steering dynamic mode output based on a predicted decision regarding the likelihood of the vehicle colliding for improved driver maneuverability and safety. In addition to this, the disclosed invention provides an improved system and method for incorporating the time-dependent distance, collision warning, and traffic density for decision making embedded in the chassis collision mode. The predictive maneuverability improvement decision module enables a customized vehicle dynamics mode selection based on a potential collision.
