The method involves forming a winding by providing an electrically conducting layer and an insulating layer (E2), and winding the conducting and insulating layers around a winding axis (E6). The winding is cut (E10) in a transverse cutting plane to form a portion of an antenna coil, where the turns of the antenna coil are formed by the electrically conducting layer, and an insulating material is formed by the insulating layer. The cutting is performed such that the position of the antenna is in correspondence with the position of a smartcard according to ISO 7816 standard. Independent claims are also included for the following: (1) a method for manufacturing a smartcard (2) a device for manufacturing an antenna (3) a device for manufacturing a smartcard.
