PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce a time taken for switching display images.SOLUTION: Provided is an image display device for reading out an image from a recording medium for recording a RAW image and a first developed image derived from the RAW image by developing and compressing it, and displaying the read image, the image display device comprising: expansion means for expanding the first developed image read out from the recording medium and writing the expanded image into a buffer; development processing means for processing the RAW image read out from the recording medium for development to higher picture quality than the first developed image and writing the processed second developed image into the buffer; and control means for having the expanded first developed image or the second developed image stored in the buffer displayed by display means. When the second developed image is being displayed by the display means, the development processing means processes, for development, the RAW image that is to be selected and displayed, and writes the processed image into the buffer. When a display image switching instruction is issued, the control means switches the display image to the second developed image of the RAW image that is to be selected and displayed.
