Human plasma, a method for the analysis of Ketosute roll biomarkers such as bile acid precursors from the serum or whole blood, labeling reagent, a set of labeling reagents, and labeling techniques are provided. This method is used for newborn screening for brain xanthomatosis (CTX). Mass spectrometry is also such a method using, labeling Ketosute roll biomarkers, methods for analyzing and quantifying are also disclosed. Teachings described herein relates to methods and kits for the analysis of Ketosute roll bile acid precursor using labeled reagents of interest.
