The present invention is directed to a charging device for charging an energy accumulator of a portable electrical device comprising at least one charging cell (LZ) including a controllable resonant circuit that performs inductive energy transfer. The charging cell (LZ) has a parallel resonant circuit, and the parallel resonant circuit includes two controllable switch elements (T3, T4) and two coils for generating self-excited vibration of the parallel resonant circuit. The parallel resonant circuit is powered by a controllable power supply voltage (UB). The control terminals of the two controllable switch elements (T3, T4) of the parallel resonant circuit can be connected to each other via one controllable cut-off switch element (T1, T2). In order to modulate the amplitude of the electromagnetic field generated by the coil, the self-excited vibration can be interrupted as predetermined. Furthermore, it is the output end (A) of the parallel resonance circuit, which is composed of the coil end of one of the coils (L1, L2), and is connected to the coil end of the other flat coil (L1, L2). In addition, a demodulator is connected to the output terminal forming the output terminal of the charging cell (LZ).
